Weed Control Using Lasers in Open-Field Horticulture
The goal of the project is to import a prototype of a machine that uses lasers for weed control and to further develop it by adapting it for the Dutch and European markets.
In addition, this machine will be equipped with cameras capable of detecting diseases and pests, enabling targeted control and thereby reducing the use of pesticides. This application makes it possible to avoid using chemicals for weed control on various crops. Reducing the use of chemical pesticides minimizes runoff into groundwater and surface water, thereby benefiting the environment.
In addition, the goal is to use additional cameras to enable harvest forecasts, which, in consultation with retailers, will allow for a better response to market conditions, thereby minimizing food waste.
